As part of Flood Awareness Week, residents are encouraged to take a few moments to consider their flood risk and ensure they are prepared should flooding occur.
While Kilmington is fortunate to have a strong community response network, flooding can occur with little warning as a result of heavy rainfall, blocked watercourses, groundwater flooding, or other severe weather events.
Kilmington Community Flood Plan
The Parish Council maintains a Community Flood Plan which sets out local arrangements, key contacts and advice for residents during flood events.

We encourage all residents, particularly those living in areas that have previously experienced flooding, to familiarise themselves with the plan and the actions they should take before, during and after a flood.
Hazard House Demonstration
As part of Flood Awareness Week, Wiltshire Council and the Environment Agency will be demonstrating their interactive Hazard House.
Hazard House shows how flooding can affect a property and illustrates the difference that flood protection measures can make. Visitors can learn about practical ways to reduce flood damage and improve their preparedness for future flood events.
Residents are welcome to visit the display in the Atrium at County Hall, Trowbridge:
- Tuesday 13 October, 10:00am to 3:00pm
- Thursday 15 October, 10:00am to 3:00pm
Information on property flood protection measures and advice on understanding flood risk will also be available.
